Client Advocacy

The purpose of client advocacy is to prevent rights violations, advocate for the provision of quality of care and to review, investigate and resolve rights complaints or issues.

Our Consumer & Family Advocate informs consumers of mental health services about their rights, helps them speak for themselves or may speak on their behalf.  Advocates assist consumers with complaints about rights and services and will help to facilitate resolution of issues.

The Client Advocacy Program is located within the San Luis Valley Community Mental Health Center.  Our Consumer & Family Advocate is Kevin Jenkins. His number is 719-589-2676 or e-mail him at kevinj@slvmhc.org. He or another advocate will interview the consumer, staff or others as necessary and review records, documents or policies. The advocate will then attempt to negotiate a satisfactory result on behalf of the consumer.
